Contemporary Fiction
Contemporary fiction includes short stories and novels that take place today, as oppsed to historical fiction, exploring characters and plot elements with a fresh and modern approach. They may be familiar stories of coming of age or enlightenment or betrayal, but there’s something new in the telling.
Many great writers of what we consider classics today could have been considered writers of contemporary fiction in their day, for they took a new and novel approach to the issues and stories of their time. It is a very loose definition of contemporary fiction, one that is constantly evolving.
